Diabetes Forecast Magazine: Eight Real Women

Recently I had the opportunity to be interviewed for an article about real women's experiences with diabetes and pregnancy to be included in the American Diabetes Association's Diabetes Forecast Magazine.

I'm in a Book!

I'm famous! First I was a guest blogger on Six Until Me, and now I'm in a book!

Okay, so that doesn't really make me famous, but it does make me pretty excited!

Here's what happened:

One of the women who stumbled upon this blog was Cheryl Alkon, who writes a blog called Managing The Sweetness Within. At the time, she was in the process of writing a book about diabetes and pregnancy, called Balancing Pregnancy With Pre-Existing Diabetes. and asked if she could interview me for her book. I was happy to be interviewed, so over the course of a number of weeks she emailed me questions about my experience and I emailed her my best responses.

For months now I've been looking forward to getting my hands on a copy of the book, and my copy finally arrived last week!

While I will admit to being somewhat biased, I do have to say that this book is amazing! I truly wish I had a copy of it during my pregnancy. It covers everything - from pre-conception right through to motherhood and everything in between! Cheryl has included not only the input of healthcare professionals, but also the experiences of a wide variety of women, so in addition to discussions about typical pregnancies with diabetes and ideal pregnancies with diabetes, she also shows plenty of examples of real pregnancies with diabetes.

Cheryl's book also includes a section on Infertility and Pregnancy Loss, as well as a long list of resources related to diabetes and pregnancy.

I strongly encourage any woman with diabetes who is pregnant or planning (or trying) to become pregnant to give this book a read! My only complaint is that it didn't come out sooner...like when I was pregnant!

To read more about it and/or order it, click here. It's also available on Amazon.com here. It looks like Amazon.ca doesn't have it yet, but you can sign up to be notified when it becomes available here.

Happy reading!
